Gangi is an ancient Sicilian village in the province of Palermo, at the foot of Etna. Perched on Monte Barone, you can enjoy a breathtaking landscape. It was awarded as Borgo dei borghi 2014.
Surrounded by green hills, it stands on the ruins of a Hellenic settlement. Take a small road and you will find yourself in an authentic medieval village, surrounded by walls. You will walk in streets that climb like balls of yarn and will take you from one courtyard to another. The village is made up of houses leaning against each other and compacted together to form a single inhabited area made up of ancient churches with high bell towers, above all the Mother Church stands out. From Piazza San Paolo it is possible to grasp the majestic cone of Etna. Finally, Gangi is dominated by the castle which sits on a peak more than a thousand meters high and is now privately owned.
