Lake Turchino is a small body of water located in a basin of high environmental value, in the Natural Park of the high Modenese Apennines.
The lake has an extremely small surface, having a diameter of only 35 meters and a shallow depth, but it is highly suggestive due to the surrounding landscape and the color of the water, which almost seems to reach a blue shade depending on the angle from which it is viewed. look. Visible until the end of autumn before the first snowfalls, then one can only imagine where it remains; a sentinel remains the small privately owned refuge erected not far away and kept in a very dignified manner. As for the altitude we are around 1600 meters above sea level. All around there is the splendid panorama of the Modenese Apennines, with the basin of the mouth in giovo and the valley of the traps in the distance. A gigantic precipice of almost three hundred and fifty meters separates the basin of Lake Turchino from Mount Rondinaio and the overhanging Mount Rondinaio Lombardo. Reachable via paths, excellent objective for a nice walk in the summer/autumn season, beautiful itinerary with frozen snow (obviously with crampons on your feet and mountaineering equipment) and arrival/departure for medium-demanding ski-mountaineering trips.
