The Castle of San Giorgio is an integral part of the Palazzo Ducale and was built in 1395 by Bartolino da Novara - designer of the Estense Castle in Ferrara - commissioned by Francesco I Gonzaga. Among the most beautiful and famous rooms of the Castle of San Giorgio we mention the Camera degli Sposi, frescoed by Andrea Mantegna between 1465 and 1474. Today the Castle of San Giorgio is home to exhibitions and cultural events, which attract thousands of visitors every year .
