Piazza Prampolini, also known as Piazza Grande, took on its current form during the Renaissance period. The most important buildings of the political and religious life of the city overlook this square, including the statue of Crostolo, the Cathedral, the bishop's palace, the Palazzo del Monte, from which the civic tower with the clock rises; on the opposite side stands the Palazzo del Municipio with the Sala del Tricolore and the Torre del Bordello, now the seat of the municipal offices.
