The Salse di Nirano represent an important geological phenomenon of international importance and a typical example of environmental and tourist enhancement.
Le Salse originate from mainly gaseous (methane bubbles) and to a small extent liquid (oil) hydrocarbon deposits, which, coming to the surface, dilute the clays and give rise to the typical cone-shaped formations. The field of Nirano is undoubtedly the most impressive phenomenon in Italy, in fact since ancient times historians and scholars have exalted its interest with often very imaginative observations.
