The MAXXI - National Museum of the XXI Century Arts is a museum based in Rome. Designed by architect Zaha Hadid and managed by the homonymous foundation of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities, it is divided into two sections: MAXXI art and MAXXI architecture.
Between 1910 and 1925, during the Art Nouveau movement, a small group of artists transformed the old chalet (also called the Swiss house) into the current Museum of Liberty Glass. Inside the museum you will find an exhibition of worked glass and a particular furniture, following the architectural style of the house. The villa seems a fairy tale house, isn't it ? 😃 Near the villa we find the Casino Nobile, which is in itself a "Museum" from the architectural and decorative point of view. It houses a small but valuable statuary collection of the Torlonia family. In addition, we recommend you a visit inside. There you will find a ballroom, a beautiful garden and a wonderful terrace. Between 1925 and 1943 it housed Benito Mussolini.
