The Dolby Theater is a theater located in Hollywood, California within the Hollywood and Highland shopping complex. Designed by architect David Rockwell and the Rockwell Group, the theater was inaugurated on November 9, 2001, and from the following year it hosts the Academy Awards ceremony, the so-called Oscar night.
The theater was sponsored by the Eastman Kodak company, which paid $75 million to have its name associated with the building. It is owned by CIM Group. The Kodak Theater is most commonly used for audiences for cultural events such as concerts, shows, and performances. However, it is occasionally used for private purposes such as weddings and various ceremonies. The theater hosted the Miss USA crowning ceremony twice, in 2004 and 2007. On September 15, 2009, there was a concert by Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli. Due to the crisis that hit the Eastman Kodak company, in February 2012 the sponsorship of the theater was declared to be terminated with the consequent possibility of changing the name.
