Nel corso della vostra visita del Cairo Islamico , il museo Gayer Anderson è una tappa fondamentale. Questo museo offre un incredibile commistione di stili e artefatti islamici in due magnifiche residenze: Beit el-Kiridiliya (1632) e Beit Amna Bent Salim (1540). Il museo fu fondato da un maggiore dell'esercito britannico, il medico militare John Gayer-Anderson, che restaurò e arredò le due residenze tra il 1935 e il 1942, arricchendole di antichità, opere d'arte, mobilio, manufatti in vetro, cristalli, tappeti, sete e abiti arabi finemente ricamati.

It was the first time I ever heard about the Gayer museum and I'm so happy that I gave it a visit .. the place is amazing there is a free guide who can guide you through out the place .. it consists of two big old houses connected togeather with a bridge .. the stories are amazing, the place is full of artistic paintings and stuff from India,Iran , ancient Egypt . Please don't miss it also you have an extra bonus visiting the Ibn toulon mosque just next to the museum.

By far the awesomest place I’ve been to in Cairo. There are in total 62 rooms and everything is gorgeous. rooms are themed from Persian, English, Turkish, Indian, Damascus, Chinese. The craftsmanship that goes into all the woodwork in this house is exceptional.

It was a beautiful experience, one feels like he went in a time capsule. Items are displayed very professionally. They offer a free guide which is really helpful as they kniw where all the light switches are and show you the hidden areas, also it's very easy to get lost inside or miss a room or 2.
