La Sfinge di Giza

Sculpture Cairo, Egypt

Considered the largest monumental statue in the world La Sfinge di Giza

The colossal statue, which blends the zoomorphic element (lion body) with the human one (human head), with an elongated body, outstretched paws and a royal headdress, is the symbol of archaeological mysteries par excellence, with its eyes fixed on the eastern horizon, while it has been scrutinizing the rising sun every morning since time immemorial, invading the imagination of tourists and onlookers, historical and non-historical. Its name, which derives from the ancient Greek and means "strangler", highlights the aggressive and mysterious aspect of this building.
