Pantalica was a settlement located on a plateau of the Iblei Mountains where the inhabitants of the coastal strip found refuge forced to flee due to the arrival of the Sicilians and the Italic populations in the first half of the XIII century BC. Prehistoric graves are excavated on all sides of the plateau. Some overhanging, almost giving the impression of a beehive.
