A beautiful hidden garden in the center of Reggio Emilia.
The building, originally part of a more widely articulated reality, took on its current appearance in 1492 when the three brothers Giovanni, Andrea and Giovanni Jacopo Fontanelli promoted the construction of the place which was joined to a pre-existing housing complex. A complex restoration campaign involved the noble construction in the years 1928-1929: the intervention, carried out according to criteria that can no longer be shared but absolutely in line with the theories widespread at the time, in an attempt to restore the ancient aspect of the building altered the design of the facade and, above all, of the central courtyard. Curiosity The ceiling of the grand staircase is decorated with a 19th-century painting depicting Aurora on a chariot with cherubs and plant scrolls. The well in the middle of the courtyard is of Veronese origin
