The Colorno palace was built in 1337 by Azzo da Correggio with the aim of defending the Oltrepò.
It belonged to the Correggio and Terzi families and was renovated between the 16th and 17th centuries by Barbara Sanseverino who transformed it into a palace and made it the seat of a refined court and a prestigious collection of paintings by Titian, Correggio, Mantegna and Raffaello.
