The lake is located on the Modenese Apennines at 1310 meters above sea level. The lake, inside the Frignano Park, is now a peat bog, the only case in the whole Tuscan-Emilian Apennines, also due to the aquatic plants that cover it almost entirely.
Reachable via a long dirt track around it, it is possible to experience a very suggestive environment and an ideal place for walks in the large prairie that covers the plateau at the limits of which a huge centuries-old beech tree seems to exude magic. As suggestive as it is dangerous, a large rocky outcrop dominates the lake and leans overhanging towards the precipice; called "Eagle's Beak" it allows you to dominate the Dardagna valley: strongly discouraged for those suffering from vertigo.
