Fifty years after his death, the Antonio Ligabue Museum Foundation was established in Gualtieri (RE). The community of the lower Reggio Emilia city felt it was a moral necessity to preserve and spread the memory of Antonio Ligabue, one of the most brilliant and original artists of the Italian twentieth century, who stayed here for over forty years, from 1919 to 1965.
