The Maddalena Archipelago is located on the north-northern coast of Sardinia, off the Costa Smeralda. It consists of 7 major islands (La Maddalena, Caprera, Budelli, Santo Stefano, Santa Maria, Spargi, Razzoli) and several smaller islets, bathed by a wonderful and transparent sea. Among the major islands, Caprera has become famous for hosting Garibaldi during his exile: his house is now a house museum open to the public. The Maddalena Archipelago was declared a National Park in 1994 and is certainly one of the most beautiful and unspoilt areas of Sardinia. The numerous beaches and coves of the Archipelago are known for their clarity and highly appreciated by tourists, both Italian and foreign.
