The California Academy of Sciences is a San Francisco research institution and one of the top ten natural history museums, one of the oldest in the United States of America. The museum, was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano, and was opened to the public on September 27, 2008. Visited annually by around 500,000 people, the facility features exhibits primarily on natural history, but also on marine biology, astronomy and geology.
