The Cable Car Museum is a free museum in the Nob Hill neighborhood of San Francisco, California. Located at 1201 Mason Street, it contains historical and explanatory exhibits about San Francisco's cable car system, which can be considered a functioning museum. The museum was founded in 1974 and is operated by the Friends of the Cable Car Museum. This structure also houses the cable car power plant, which drives the cables, and the car storage. The car depot is not open to the public, but two viewing galleries allow the visitor to see the power plant.
In the museum you will discover all the history about Frisco's Cable Cars: photos of the eight companies running up and down Hills on San Francisco are available to be seen, you will also get to know the different parts and the tools Cable Cars are made of. It's a perfect place for adults and children.
