Faro della Palascia

Lighthouse Salento, Italy

Italy's most easterly point Faro della Palascia

The lighthouse of Capo D'Otranto, known as della "Palascìa", is now almost a century old and is the easternmost point of the Italian peninsula. It is located just outside Otranto along the coast road that leads from the city of martyrs to Santa Cesarea.

Geographers want the Adriatic Sea to reach its southern limit here and the Ionian Sea to begin its adventure instead (common belief has it that the waters of the two seas merge in front of Santa Maria di Leuca).
