A unique and unrepeatable architectural episode is certainly the mausoleum that Theoderic had built in Ravenna. Born in Pannonia in 454, son of Theodemir and king of the Goths, he defeated Odoacer in 490 entering, after three years of siege, Ravenna which he chose as capital adorning it with buildings such as the Arian Baptistery and the Basilica of Sant'Apollinare Nuovo, his church palatine.
