The MAR - Art Museum of the City of Ravenna is located within the monumental complex of the Loggetta Lombardesca, the sixteenth-century monastery of the adjacent Abbey of Santa Maria in Porto. Of the sixteenth-century building which, starting from the period of the Napoleonic suppressions and up to the restoration of the early 70s of the twentieth century, underwent numerous reconversions of use and re-functionalisations, the cloister with Renaissance proportions remains, the layout of the spaces and the elegant loggia with five arches, which has become the emblem of the entire complex. The museum, an institution of the Municipality of Ravenna since 2002, as well as being home to numerous and important temporary art exhibitions, houses three permanent collections within its architectural spaces and its Pinacoteca
