The Basilica of San Francesco, originally dedicated to the SS. Apostles and then to St. Peter's, dates back to the mid-5th century AD. However, very little remains of the first early Christian church, above all due to the continuous renovations that have affected the building over the centuries (the robust square bell tower dates back to the X-XI century), up to the radical ones at the end of the eighteenth century.
