Crocodile Meat Guide

Miami, FL

Food Guide

If you ever look for alternative protein sources with high-quality protein and lean fat, you can’t go wrong with alligator meat. Yes, you heard that right. In fact, in Florida, is actually one of the traditional dishes, absolutely worth tasting, just think that alligator meat consumption is quite common, almost as frequent as beef.

How is it?

It tastes like chicken, with a mildly fishy flavor, and is often chewy, depending on preparation. Alligator meat comes in three basic types: white tail meat, usually tender, like veal; body meat with a stronger flavor, slightly tougher, similar to pork shoulder; and dark tail meat tough meat; alligator eggs are also for consumption.

A Super Food

According to the Health Promotion Board, a 100g serving of stewed crocodile meat contains 46g of protein: the nutrient content of a similar serving of stewed, boneless chicken is only 25g and provides even less fat than chicken: this makes croc meat a treasure chest of the muscle-building nutrient.
