Open-air concerts in the summer, ice skating in the winter, always accompanied by exhibitions, art and culture. The imposing complex on the north bank of the Thames is home to two important collections: the Courtauld Gallery and the Embankment Galleries. You will find works by masters of the past and exhibitions dedicated to art, design, fashion, architecture and photography.
The complex was built in the first half of the 16th century by Edward Seymour, 1st Duke of Somerset and brother-in-law of Henry VIII. Today it is home to an important multipurpose center for the visual arts, design, photography, film, music and fashion. It houses the Courtauld Institute of Art and the east wing is part of King's College London.
