Very interesting museum, good for family. General admission is free. Occasionally they will provide special exhibition. People are nice and friendly. Good place to learn about the maritime history of Australia, especially Sydney. WWII contents are also included in the museum. Recommended.

Fascinating museum. Tremendous variety of maritime related exhibits. The volunteers who provided insight into life in the various military and historical vessels were interesting and well informed. Lots of interactive stuff in the main building to keep the kids involved. Well set out, but quite a lot of walking is necessary to get from one end to the other. If you are into maritime history, then this is well worth a visit.

We only visited the free exhibits, since we were limited on time but what we saw was amazing and well put together. The free exhibits pieces together Australian history very well, including Aboriginal history, arrival of Europeans and the immigration of Europeans via boat. There is also an exhibit on its naval history that's worth checking out.

The staff and volunteers are lovely. We went and saw the natural history photography exhibition which was quite good. We also saw two of the free sea 3D docos which were really interesting. Definitely will be back to explore some more.
