The "Tour Eiffel" is known throughout the world as a symbol of Paris, named after its designer, the engineer Gustave Eiffel. The structure was built in less than two years, from 1887 to 1889, on the occasion of the "Exposition Universelle" with the aim of commemorating the centenary of the French Revolution. Today it is considered one of the most extraordinary examples of architectural art in the world.
The Eiffel Tower, with its 320 meters of height, was built with 18,000 pieces of iron, fixed together with about 5,000,000 bolts, resulting in a weight of 10,000 tons. There are two possibilities to climb to the top of this extraordinary monument: the 1665 steps or two transparent lifts. Seeing the Eiffel Tower illuminated in the evening by more than 22,000 bulbs and 900 lights will be an unforgettable sight, something truly unique.
