The province of Palawan is an archipelago and a province of the Philippines. The capital of the province is the city of Puerto Princesa. Most of the provincial territory falls on the homonymous island. It is the largest Philippine province and extends from northeast to southwest between Mindoro and Borneo between the South China Sea in the north and the Sulu Sea in the south. It is a mass of different cultural and ethnic groups (87 have been surveyed) and has an immense natural heritage which is also the basis of its subsistence, increasingly linked to tourism.
