The Grand Canyon National Park is a US national park located in the state of Arizona. Inside the park is the Grand Canyon, a gorge of the Colorado River, considered one of the natural wonders of the world. The park covers 4927 km² (1,902 mi²). Most park visitors arrive at the South Rim, along Arizona State Route 64. The road enters the park through a 20 km creek at the south entrance, near Tusayan, Arizona, then turns east, leaving the park through the east entrance. Park management is at Grand Canyon Village, which is a short distance from the South Entrance and is also downtown of the most popular viewpoints. Approximately fifty kilometers of the South Rim are accessible by road. The rest of the Grand Canyon is extremely wild and remote, although many places are accessible by trails and bridleways.
