The Sleepy Japanese Town Built Inside an Active Volcano Aogashima

Aogashima is a Japanese village in Hachijō Subprefecture, whose territory falls under the jurisdiction of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government. The territory of the village coincides with that of the homonymous island of Aogashima, the southernmost of the Izu archipelago among those permanently inhabited. It is located in the Philippine Sea 358.4 km south of Tokyo and 71.4 km south of Hachijōjima, the closest inhabited island.
