The seat of the Museum is the seventeenth-century Torre di Ligny, the extreme bulwark of the city of Trapani. The Museum exhibits two sections: the prehistoric section preserves finds from the Trapani area, the archaeological section - richer - exhibits objects found in the seabed: amphorae, anchors, furnishings from the Greek, Roman and Punic eras.
You will find prestigious finds such as artifacts and tools belonging to prehistory, helmets dating back to the period of the First Punic War, anchors and amphorae from the Punic-Roman era and still dwarf elephant tusks and hippopotamus teeth. The most significant piece is a cap helmet, probably from the time of the First Punic War (241 BC). You will conclude the visit with the splendid panorama of the Gulf of Trapani and Mount Erice seen from the terrace of the tower.
