Sơn Đoòng Cave is a cave located within Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park. The cavern is, in most of its passages, about 80 meters wide and equally high, with a total length of 4.5 km. Its passages are estimated to go beyond that distance, as the British Cave Research Association team had to halt the expedition due to seasonal rains.
The cave was discovered by a local man in 1991, and has been studied by explorers and scholars from around the world.
