Bến Thành Market is a large market in the center of Hồ Chí Minh City. The market developed from informal markets created by early 17th-century peddlers who congregated near the Saigon River. Ben Thanh was formally established by the French colonial powers after they captured the Giaenh Citadel in 1859

Nowadays, this market attracts a large number of tourists, thanks to the abundance of restaurants, fashion shops, bars and night clubs.
