The Scaliger Arks, located in the historic center of Verona, are a monumental funerary complex in the Gothic style of the Scaligeri family, intended to contain the arks (or tombs) of some illustrious representatives of the family, including that of the greatest Lord of Verona, Cangrande, to whom Dante dedicates Paradise: they are located next to the church of Santa Maria Antica, near Piazza dei Signori. The French historian Georges Duby in his Medieval Europe defined the arks as «one of the most famous and significant monuments of Gothic art».
