National treasures Tokyo National Museum

The Tokyo National Museum (東京国立博物館 Tōkyō Kokuritsu Hakubutsukan) is an art and archeology museum based in Tokyo: founded in 1872, it is the largest and oldest museum in Japan and is located inside Ueno park. It houses a collection of over 110,000 archaeological artifacts and artworks from Japan and other East Asian countries, of which 87 are classified as national treasures and 610 as important cultural assets.
