Wat Arun

Temple Thailand, Thailand

Temple of Dawn Wat Arun

Wat Arun is a Buddhist temple complex in Bangkok. It is located in the Bangkok Yai district, in the populous Thonburi district on the right bank of the Chao Phraya River. His full name is Wat Arunratchawararam Ratchaworamahavihara. It is also called the Temple of Dawn due to the wonderful chromatic effects that the early morning lights give it.

The original building was built in Ayutthaya times and was 16 meters high. Rama II decided to elevate it but the works were completed during the reign of Rama III. Currently the structure measures 81 meters.
