Wat Chaiwatthanaram is a Buddhist temple located in Ayutthaya. It is one of the major tourist attractions of the place and one of the most beautiful temples in the whole country. The construction of the temple was strongly desired by King Prasat Thong of the Kingdom of Ayutthaya, who had it built in memory of his mother. It is located in the southwest area of the island where the ancient city once stood, along the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, which borders the south and west sides of the island. On the opposite bank of the river, inside the island, is the Siriyalai Palace.
