Sukhothai Historical Park contains the ruins of ancient Sukhothai, the capital of the Sukhothai Kingdom in the 13th and 14th centuries. The remaining circle of walls of the royal citadel forms a rectangle approximately 1810 meters long on the east-west axis and 1400 on the north-south axis. In the center of each side is an access door. Inside the park are the ruins of the royal palace and 21 temples, the largest of which is Wat Mahathat.
