Damnoen Saduak floating market is located in the Damnoen Saduak district of Ratchaburi province, about 100 km southeast of Bangkok. In 1866 King Rama IV gave the order to build a canal connecting the Mae Klong and Tha Chin rivers. The 32 km long canal was opened in 1868 and named Khlong (canal) Damnoen Saduak. Subsequently, many floating markets were created along its course and in the new secondary canals dug by the population.
Today this market is considered a famous tourist attraction in the area, and the most important floating market in the country, frequented by both local and foreign tourists.
