Skeppsholmen

Island Stockholm, Sweden

One of the islands of Stockholm Skeppsholmen

Skeppsholmen is one of Stockholm's islands. It is connected with Blasieholmen and Kastellholmen by bridges. It can be reached on foot from Kungsträdgården, passing the Grand Hôtel and the Nationalmuseum, by bus number 65, or by boat from Slussen, Djurgården or Nybroplan. Strategically positioned at the entrance to the Baltic Sea in Stockholm, it has traditionally been the site of numerous military buildings. Today the military presence is low and several museums are located here, such as the Museum of Modern Art, the main modern art museum in Stockholm, the architecture museum, in the same building, and Östasiatiska Muséet (East Asian museum). It is also home to the Theater Galeasen.
