The Vittoriano, also known as the "Altar of the Fatherland", is a monument dedicated to the first king of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele II.
In the center is the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier placed in 1921 to remember the fallen of the First World War. Going up the stairs you find yourself on the terrace from which you can enjoy one of the most exciting views of Rome. Inside the Vittoriano you will also find two museums, the museum of the Risorgimento and of Italian emigration.
