Prassonissi, also called Prasonisi is a tidal island which is located at the southern end of the island of Rhodes. It is a promontory, on which stands a lighthouse, joined to the island by a strip of sand, which becomes an island at high tide, giving rise to that phenomenon known as "the meeting of the two seas", the Levant Sea and the Aegean Sea. Thus, while the western sea is agitated by the blowing of the Meltemi wind, the eastern one is calm. We are witnessing a particular phenomenon which is a surfer's paradise. Even today it is an uninhabited area with very few structures, still far from mass tourism like almost the entire western coast of the island which has no tourist structures but is mainly agricultural. It can be reached from the city of Rhodes, both from the eastern and western parts or with internal itineraries if you want to pay a visit to Petaloudes (the Valley of the Butterflies) or to other small historic centers including Psinthos, Epta Piges and Theologos .
