Manila is the capital of the Philippines. It is located on the east coast of the largest island in the Philippines, Luzón. He was born in the 16th century to a Muslim colony called May Nilad on the banks of the Pasig River in the seat of the Spanish colonial government which controlled the Philippines for 333 years. Despite the pockets of poverty present, it is one of the most cosmopolitan cities in the world and its metropolitan area is the economic, cultural and industrial center of the country. It is the center of a thriving metropolitan area with over 12 million inhabitants.
