Apo Island is a volcanic island of the Philippine archipelago that extends for 74 hectares, in the province of Negros Oriental. Apo Island is located south of the extreme southern tip of Negros Island, 7 kilometers from the municipality of Zamboanguita and 25 kilometers south of the capital Dumaguete. The island and the surrounding waters were declared a protected landscape area in 1993 by the then President of the Philippines Fidel Valdez Ramos. Over the years, Apo has become a well-known and sought-after destination for many diving-loving tourists.
