Svolvær is a charming city in the county of Nordland, located in the Lofoten Islands, therefore facing the Norwegian Sea to the south, surmounted by mountains to the north. The main economic activity of the city is linked to cod fishing and salmon fish farming. Separated from Vågan in 1918, Svolvær was merged again with Vågan on 1 January 1964 to become an independent municipality again in 1996.
