Nusfjord is one of Norway's oldest and best preserved fishing villages. This village is located on the Lofoten Islands, and administratively belongs to the municipality of Flakstad. Currently the village is not permanently inhabited, but rather functions as a museum. Recent archaeological excavations have brought to light settlements dating back to the 5th century. Nusfjord was designated by UNESCO in 1975 as a pilot project to preserve traditional Norwegian architecture.
