Brooklyn Bridge

Historical Bridge New York, New York

Cross the Brooklyn Bridge

The Brooklyn Bridge, built between 1869 and 1883, connects Manhattan to Brooklyn and is one of the most beautiful attractions to visit in New York.

Opened on May 24, 1883, it was undoubtedly one of the greatest engineering projects of the 19th century. The Brooklyn Bridge spans the East River between Brooklyn and Manhattan and was for a long time the largest suspension bridge in the world. Crossing it on foot or by bike, perhaps at sunset, will allow you to take beautiful shots and enjoy a fantastic view of the city.

Enjoyed walking across the bridge from Manhattan to Brooklyn. One of the oldest bridges in the US completed in 1883. The bridge is 1.3 miles long and offers great views. The walk across the bridge can take 30 to 50 minutes depending on how busy it is and how fast you walk. Another fun way to enjoy the bridge is to ride a bike. If walking across the bridge be considerate of bike riders and commuters and do not block the bike path.

Loved to walk on the bridge. Amazing view, great breeze. There's a platform for walking on the bridge. Due to its elevation, the platform is great for sightseeing. You can watch the parts of Manhattan, Brooklyn also close up views of one world trade center (earlier you could see twin towers), statue of liberty and many more important structures. There are also some historical background tied to the bridge. You can know by searching as well as reading the boards, inscribed stones on the bridge.

Such a beautiful bridge to walk on. My family and I took Lyft into Brooklyn and started to walk on the bridge in the afternoon. It wasn't too hot thanks to the cool breeze. The left side is reserved for the pedestrians and the right side is for the bikers. However, as one can imagine, pedestrians overflow to the right side when there is a lot of foot traffic. Be careful to not to get hit by a biker and be courteous to stay out of the path if possible. The view is really great. Must go place when you are touring around downtown NY.

It is an architectural icon in a skyline full of icons. My family took the time to walk all the way across and back. Be aware of runners and bikers who are moving at a fast pace...give them some space or you will hear them get vocal. Take lots of photos, but move off to the side. Final tip: take your time and enjoy the views.
