Sagarmatha National Park is located in eastern Nepal, and contains within it a part of the Himalayas including the southern part of Everest. The park was established on July 19, 1976, and in 1979 it was added to the World Heritage List. The park encloses an area of 1148 km² and ranges in altitude from 2845 meters at Jorsale to 8850 at the summit of Everest. Unlike other parks, this one can be divided into four climate zones due to the extended altitude.
From below we find the forests, an area with an alpine climate, the highest part of which hosts the last forms of vegetation, and finally the arctic area where there are no plants.
