Colorful Death Pashupatinath Temple

Pashupatinath Temple is the most important Hindu temple in Nepal. It is located along the Bagmati River in Kathmandu and is dedicated to the god Pashupati, manifestation of Shiva. It is one of the seven groups of monuments that allow Kathmandu Valley to be considered a World Heritage Site. Its original nucleus dates back to the 6th century AD. , and is known for its pagoda-shaped architecture. The priests who perform the duties are called Bhattas.

The place is popular with tourists mainly due to the funeral ceremonies that take place daily, with the corpses being cremated on the pyres before the ashes are scattered in the Bagmati. Numerous festivals are held at the temple of which the main one, Shivaratri, attracts over 700,000 worshippers.
