The Bourbon Gallery is an underground cavity in Naples that extends under the Pizzofalcone hill, near the Royal Palace. This cave was built between the 17th and 19th centuries, and its purpose was to provide a quick escape route (to the sea) for the royal family in case of riots and a quick connection to the palace for the soldiers.
Since 2005, the structure has returned to the attention of geologists who have inspected it, on behalf of the Government Commissariat for the Underground Emergency. Finally, after various excavation and safety works on the structure, the site was opened to the public by the "Borbonica Sotterranea" cultural association on 29 October 2010.
