Schwabing

Schwabing is a district of Munich located north of the historic center. It became famous as an artists' quarter during the late 19th century having had a peak concentration of painters, writers, musicians and revolutionaries.

Thanks to the proximity of a university and an academy of fine arts, very open to the avant-garde, Schwabing became one of the world's artistic centers for about ten years.
