The Hofbräuhaus (full name in German: Staatliches Hofbräuhaus in München, literally National Court Brewery in Munich) is the most famous brewery in Munich, as well as one of the "seven sisters", the seven historic breweries of the city.
Today it is owned by the Bavarian government, while the prefix Hof ("court") indicates that the premises and the annexed factory were the royal brewery of the Kingdom of Bavaria. The brewery operates the venue in central Munich, the Hofbräuhaus am Platzl, the Hofbräukeller restaurant and the second largest Oktoberfest tent, the Hofbräu-Festzelt. The current overall capacity of the rooms - Schwemme, Bräustüberl, Festhalle and the Wirtsgarten - is three thousand people, and HB has opened some branches in various cities around the world, including Genoa.
